We are working with a UHNW family who are moving into a newly completed residence in Belgravia, London, to help them hire a full-time House Manager. This is a rare opportunity to establish every aspect of a household's operations from a blank canvas, within a bespoke home featuring handmade furniture, an important art collection and exceptional finishes throughout.

Working closely with the lady of the house, the House Manager will spend considerable time learning her tastes and expectations, from day and evening service to exactly how she likes her bedroom prepared, and translate these into clear, visual standard operating procedures for the team.

The household operates almost year-round and entertains regularly on an intimate scale. You will lead a team of around eight household staff, including a Head Housekeeper and Butler, working alongside the family's established chefs, drivers and security. Please note, only CVs demonstrating strong longevity and stability in previous roles will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish all household operations from scratch within a newly completed residence
• Work closely with the principal to understand her tastes, preferences and standards in detail
• Write and implement clear, visual SOPs covering day service, evening service and all household routines
• Lead, train and develop a household team of around eight staff
• Create staff rotas across early and late shifts, ensuring seamless coverage including weekends
• Oversee the property snag list, liaising with contractors and specialist suppliers
• Protect and maintain bespoke furniture, fine art, chandeliers and valuable contents
• Coordinate preparations for entertaining and guest visits alongside the private chefs
• Manage household budgets, inventories, suppliers and service contracts
• Act as the key point of contact for the family, ensuring they are never unnecessarily interrupted
• Uphold the highest standards of discretion, confidentiality and respect for privacy, with zero tolerance for gossip, hearsay or the inappropriate sharing of information

Ideal Candidate

• The right attitude, a genuine willingness to learn and the ability to adapt, as every household operates differently and each Principal has their own preferences and expectations
• Proven experience as a House Manager within a UHNW private household or Chief Stewardess/Interior Manager onboard luxury yachts
• A CV demonstrating strong longevity and stability in previous roles is essential
• A background in five-star hotel operations is highly regarded
• Demonstrable experience setting up households or operations from scratch
• Excellent SOP writing skills, with the ability to present standards visually
• Exceptional attention to detail and a calm, methodical approach
• An inspiring, hands-on leader with outstanding communication skills
• Trustworthy, loyal and an effective problem solver
• An attentive listener, able to take detailed instruction and act on it precisely

Package

• Working schedule: 5 days a week, with flexibility required to meet the needs of the household (including weekends, on rota)
• Transport home provided following late shifts
• 22 days' holiday plus 8 bank holidays
• Statutory pension after 3 months' service
• Performance-based incremental bonus
• Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 per year, depending on experience
