  • Categories Chef
  • Salary £600.00 - £800.00 Per Week

We are working with a returning UHNW family to help them hire an experienced Chalet Chef for the upcoming winter season in Klosters, Switzerland. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a well-established private household in one of Switzerland's most exclusive alpine resorts, catering for the family and for guests throughout the season.

The chalet sleeps up to eight guests and is let for approximately six weeks of the season, with the remainder reserved for owner visits. This is a relatively settled placement compared to a fully let chalet season, offering a good deal of stability alongside the variety of catering for both family and guests. The kitchen has recently been enclosed, offering the successful candidate a private, self-contained working space.

Live-out accommodation is provided in a well-presented apartment in the village, within easy walking distance of the chalet. A staff car is provided to support with shopping and errands within the local area. The role is due to start on 15th December, with the owner in residence over the Christmas period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present fine-dining standard breakfasts, afternoon teas, and dinners for up to eight guests
  • Plan creative, seasonal menus tailored to the family and guests' preferences and dietary requirements
  • Submit sample three-day menus for approval, with a cook test to follow in London for shortlisted candidates
  • Prepare a festive menu for the owner and their guests over the Christmas period
  • Cater for additional guests and events during the charity week and any owner visits
  • Manage household shopping and errands using the staff car and float, keeping accurate receipts
  • Maintain the kitchen to an impeccably clean, organised, and hygienic standard at all times
  • Liaise closely with the housekeeper and wider household team regarding meal timings and guest needs
  • Manage stock, ordering, and budgeting responsibly across the season
  • Work autonomously within the newly enclosed kitchen while maintaining consistently high standards

Ideal Candidate

  • UK passport holder, or EU nationals holding a valid UK National Insurance number
  • Previous experience within a private chalet, villa, or fine-dining restaurant environment
  • Strong menu planning and presentation skills, with a creative approach to seasonal fine dining
  • Full, clean driving licence, comfortable driving in an alpine village setting
  • Meticulous, organised, and confident managing budgets and stock responsibly
  • Professional, discreet, and adaptable, with a positive and personable manner
  • Comfortable working closely as part of a small, established household team
  • Willing to submit sample menus and attend a cook test as part of the process

Package

  • Working schedule: 6 days a week
  • Live-in accommodation provided – shared village apartment, less than a 10-minute walk from the chalet
  • Staff car and float provided for local shopping and errands
  • Start date: 15th December
  • Salary: £800 per week when you have guests, £600 per week on empty weeks
