We are working with a well-established luxury chalet operator to assist in hiring an experienced Chalet Chef for a luxury private chalet in Courchevel 1850, for the 2026/27 winter season. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and passionate chef to join a small, close-knit chalet team, delivering exceptional food and service to discerning guests throughout the season.

The chef will work alongside a wider team comprising two hostesses, a full-time driver, a driver's assistant, and a Chalet Manager, providing exemplary breakfasts, afternoon teas, and four-course dinners on a daily basis whenever guests are in residence. Guest occupancy is high throughout the season, though the working pattern allows for regular time for skiing and rest between shifts, in addition to scheduled days off.

The role is offered on either a freelance or French CDD contract basis, with accommodation, ski hire, and a range of additional benefits provided. Contract dates run from approximately 25th November 2026 to 10th April 2027.

  • Plan and prepare exemplary breakfasts, afternoon teas, and four-course dinners daily for chalet guests
  • Deliver consistently high standards of cuisine, tailoring menus to guest preferences and dietary requirements
  • Manage all aspects of the chalet kitchen, including stock control, ordering, and budgeting
  • Minimise wastage through careful planning and effective portion control
  • Maintain full compliance with food hygiene and safety standards at all times
  • Liaise closely with the Chalet Manager on menus, guest requirements, and service timings
  • Work collaboratively with the wider chalet team to ensure seamless guest service
  • Keep the kitchen and all food preparation areas clean, organised, and presentable at all times
  • Manage kitchen inventory and coordinate deliveries with local suppliers
  • Adapt menus and service style to suit varying guest numbers and occasions throughout the season
  • Uphold the highest standards of presentation, professionalism, and guest care at all times

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in 5* chalets, yachts, villas, or private households
  • EU passport holder or right to work in France
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene / HACCP certification preferred
  • Confident working independently, while valuing a small-team working environment
  • Strong awareness of budgeting, stock management, and wastage control
  • Passionate, creative, and dedicated to their craft
  • Previous chalet or private chef experience strongly preferred; restaurant-only backgrounds may find the role challenging
  • Personable, professional, and adaptable, with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable living and working as part of a close-knit staff team

  • Accommodation provided free of charge: own private bedroom within shared staff accommodation in Courchevel Le Praz
  • Staff car available
  • Ski hire included free of charge
  • Courchevel valley ski pass reimbursed at the end of the season, subject to completion of contract
  • Arrival and departure transport contribution of €100 each way
