We’ve heard many stories recently about how individuals and companies have had to adapt, whilst also doing their best to support and be available to the wider community, during these extraordinary times. Here’s one from an amazing chef candidate of ours, Gary Martin.
After having his usual kitchen closed due to the current pandemic, Gary was left with no work, and like many others, sent home after being told that his workplace was closed until further notice. He went home and thought about what he could do for himself, which would also support the local community around Epsom, Surrey during these tough times.
After an evening of thinking, he decided he would set up a home meal delivery service – sourcing, preparing, cooking and delivering meals to nearby residents, whilst also supporting local suppliers.
He set up a Facebook page and by the end of the week had local businesses working alongside him. Within a few days he was delivering homemade, healthy and nutritious meals within his local area.
Gary offers a simple, weekly changing menu and makes all the meals himself from scratch. To keep track of his story, you can follow his Facebook page (@privateperformancechef) and if you’re in the Epsom and wish to order, contact him through his page.
Gary now has lots of returning customers who, week on week, are eager to find out what will be appearing on the menu. So far, he’s prepared lasagne, chicken a la king, roast dinners and even pancakes delivered to front door for brunch!
He’s also had requests for deliveries of birthday and anniversary meals to households while restaurants are closed as people obviously can’t go out to celebrate.
